SATA的困擾
使用SATA硬盤現在***一時，因為相對價格較低。應用是作為企業磁盤到磁盤的近線存儲與備份，但是現在，用戶使用SATA硬盤來做主要數據在線存儲的案例也比比皆是，其原因是因為可以節約***。SATA硬盤甚至成為了大型數據庫的主要存儲設備，其他以前使用FC硬盤的領域，現在也能看到SATA硬盤，顯然用戶對存儲空間單位***極為關注，但似乎忽略了一些可靠性方面的問題。
好在現在RAID廠商已經開發了支持RAID-6控制器的SATA產品來打消這些疑慮，RAID6增加了***個獨立的奇偶校驗信息塊，而不象RAID5只有一個校驗塊，所以可以同時允許兩塊硬盤出現故障。
但RAID6同時帶來的是需要分配更多的磁盤空間，也需要在控制器和硬盤之間比RAID5提供更多的帶寬。我們使用硬盤廠商希捷網站上提供的數據來做例證，750GB容量的SATA硬盤平均傳輸速度是78MB/秒，如果你用的RAID5時，你需要702MB/秒的傳輸速度讓RAID集正常工作，但如果你用的是RAID6，平均速度至少要達到780MB/秒，或者提供10%額外的帶寬。同樣的速度問題在需要大量讀寫操作的應用軟件中也存在，包括視頻、音頻輸入輸出流。還有一個可能被大家忽視的應用，那就是數據庫重建索引。
毫無疑問SATA硬盤提供了一個較低的單位存儲空間***，但是由於與FC硬盤相比每秒輸入輸出次數更少，而且指標都比FC硬盤稍遜一籌，比特誤碼率，硬盤轉速以及較長搜索時間，企業究竟決定購買何種硬盤，顯然還需要考慮更多地因素。

The troubles of SATA
The use of SATA hard drives is now * * * temporary due to their relatively low price. The application serves as a near-line storage and backup for enterprise disk to disk, but nowadays, there are also many cases where users use SATA hard drives for primary data online storage, because it can save * * *. SATA hard drives have even become the main storage device for large databases. In other fields that used to use FC hard drives, SATA hard drives can now be seen. Obviously, users are extremely concerned about storage space units, but it seems to have overlooked some reliability issues.
Fortunately, RAID manufacturers have now developed SATA products that support RAID-6 controllers to dispel these concerns. RAID6 has added * * * independent parity information blocks, unlike RAID5, which only has one parity block, allowing two hard drives to fail simultaneously.
But RAID6 also brings with it the need to allocate more disk space and provide more bandwidth between the controller and hard drive than RAID5.
