（1）配置方便：可接控制係統的需要確定要使用哪家的PLC，那種類型的，用什麼模塊，要多少模塊，確定後，到市場上定貨購買即可。
（2）安裝方便：PLC硬件安裝簡單，組裝容易。外部接線有接線器，接線簡單，而且一次接好後，更換模塊時，把接線器安裝到新模塊上即可，都不必再接線。內部什麼線都不要接，只要作些必要的DIP開關設定或軟件設定，以及編制好用戶程序就可工作。
（3）編程方便：PLC內部雖然沒有什麼實際的繼電器、時間繼電器、計數器，但它通過程序（軟件）與係統內存，這些器件卻實實在在地存在著。其數量之多是繼電器控制係統難以想象的。即使是小型的PLC，內部繼電器數都可以千計，時間繼電器、計數也以百計。而且，這些繼電器的接點可***次地使用。PLC內部邏輯器件之多，用戶用起來已不感到有什麼限制。考慮的只是入出點。而這個內部入出點即使用得再多，也無關緊要。大型PLC的控制點數可達萬點以上，哪有那麼大的現實係統？若實在不夠，還可聯網進行控制，不受什麼限制。PLC的指令係統也非常豐富，可毫不困難地實現種種開關量，以及模擬量的控制。PLC還有存儲數據的內存區，可存儲控制過程的所有要保存的信息。……總之，由於PLC功能之強，發揮其在控制係統的作用，所受的限制已不是PLC本身，而是人們的想象力，或與其配套的其它硬件設施了。
