Magnetostrictive displacement sensor is a displacement sensor manufactured based on the principle of magnetostriction, which measures the precision and long stroke position. It adopts a non-contact measurement method. Since the active magnetic ring used for measurement does not have direct contact with the sensor itself, it is not subject to friction or wear. Therefore, its service life is long, its environmental adaptability is strong, its reliability and safety are good, and it is convenient for system automation work. Even in harsh industrial environments, it can work normally. In addition, it can withstand temperature, pressure, and strong vibration, and has been applied in the measurement and control of mechanical displacement

Large and medium-sized PLCs (such as Siemens' s7-300 and s7-400 series) generally adopt modular structures. Modular PLC is composed of a frame and modules by building blocks to form a system (see Figure 2-2). The module is inserted into the module socket, and the latter is welded to the bus connection board of the rack. Some manufacturers refer to the rack as a substrate. PLC manufacturers provide racks with different slots for users to choose from. If one rack cannot accommodate the selected module, one or more expansion racks can be added, and each rack is connected by I/O expansion cables. Some PLCs require interface modules to connect each rack.

Users can choose from different grades of CPU modules, a wide variety of I/O modules, and special function modules, with a wide range of options for hardware configuration. It is also convenient to replace modules during maintenance.


Some modular PLCs (such as Siemens' s7-300 series PLCs) do not have a rack, and each module is installed on an aluminum guide rail. Adjacent modules are connected using a U-shaped bus connector below the module.
