Generally speaking, the TRICONEX 3636R has inherent low conduction loss due to its lower conduction voltage (approximately 1.8 to 2.2 V for IGCT). 2.8 to 3.5 V for IGBTs with comparable rated voltage. In the case of the latest IGBT, the switching loss is equivalent or ultimately slightly reduced (higher on loss and lower off loss). Therefore, the overall comparison depends on the specific switching frequency of the application.
