As shown in the above figure, an inductance coil is connected in series between the rectifier circuit and the filter circuit to form the inductance and capacitance filter circuit, which can further reduce the fluctuation of the output voltage UOUO. When the current through the inductance coil changes, the induction electromotive force will be generated by the inductance coil to prevent the current change. It can also be understood that when the current decreases, the inductance coil will release the stored energy to the load, so that the load current and load voltage pulsation will be reduced. The larger the inductance, the better the filtering effect.

Generally, the filter coil adopts iron core inductance coil, which has high cost, large volume and heavy weight. Therefore, inductive and capacitive filtering is suitable for the occasion of large load current (i.e. small rlrl) and small output voltage ripple.
